This was an interesting read to say the least. Despite her rapid downfall from the very top, I believe Liz Truss to be one of the most interesting enigmas of modern British politics. Her rise to the top was questionable, and there were signs that she was doomed to fail. This book provides an interesting spectacle into the workings of Britain's short-term PM and offers immensely interesting accounts.
After reading this book, I noted that that rise of Liz Truss to the very top of British politics wasn't as altogether unexpected as some may have thought - in contradiction of the title - however that thought was slightly dampened by the account of the launch of her leadership campaign.
The book offered an essential view of the real grit and character of the 44-day-PM. There are constant accounts from some of her closest allies, including the likes of Kwasi Kwarteng. In addition, I also witnessed her search across Britain for a Parliamentary seat and the many issues and problems of her political career. Liz Truss is someone who shouldn't have gotten to the top but did. This is an interesting commentary on what counts in British politics, and what doesn't.
